Dialogue in Primary Science RH198 / A81
Summary
Dialogue in Primary Science – supporting scientific conversations and vocabulary acquisition
In this workshop, we will consider descriptions and conceptualisations of dialogue within the context of Primary Science. We will discover what is meant by Exploratory Talk and the features indicative of it. The stepping stones to building a Dialogic Science Classroom, including classroom preparations, promoting effective group work and how to design learning tasks that promote this type of talk will also be explored. In addition, we will look at the challenges children face when retaining scientific language and explore strategies to aid their vocabulary retention.
£65 STEM Learning subsidy is available for Cambridgeshire & Peterborough state-maintained schools. Contact training@swaveseyvc.co.uk for more info.
