Summary

Following on from our Winter/Spring SKE Chemistry series we have a new set of SKE in Chemistry based on previous participants suggestions for new sessions for the Summer Term.

GCSE Chemistry specifications include rather more organic chemistry than combined science courses and in this session we will explore the additional material included in the main awarding bodies’ specifications. In doing so, you will

  • Identify some barriers to learning about organic chemistry;
  • Evaluate some pedagogical approaches and practical activities to teaching organic chemistry;
  • Explore beyond the basics of crude oil and hydrocarbons;
  • Recognise functional groups and Investigate the chemistry of alcohols, acids and esters.

Aimed at KS4 Chemistry teachers however if you are looking to improve your subject knowledge then they are suitable for chemistry teachers teaching at KS3 and KS5. In addition to any ECT or Trainee teachers as well.

*Please note if you do sign-up and do not attend there is a £50 non-attendance charge (unless you inform us prior to the meeting).
