SKE Chemistry KS4: Structure and Bonding RM298 / B100
Summary
Following on from our Winter/Spring SKE Chemistry series we have a new set of SKE in Chemistry based on previous participants suggestions for new sessions for the Summer Term.
Structure and bonding are key ideas in chemistry by which we explain the behaviour, reactions, properties and uses of macroscopic substances in terms of a number of models of matter at a sub-microscopic level. In this session you will:
- Identify common misconceptions that arise and consider how to address them;
- Consider a different approach to teaching bonding starting from macroscopic properties;
- Emphasise the importance of inter- and intramolecular forces;
- Link bonding to energy changes in chemistry.
Aimed at KS4 Chemistry teachers however if you are looking to improve your subject knowledge then they are suitable for chemistry teachers teaching at KS3 and KS5. In addition to any ECT or Trainee teachers as well.
*Please note if you do sign-up and do not attend there is a £50 non-attendance charge (unless you inform us prior to the meeting).
