NI ITT Primary Summer School at National STEM Learning Centre NB024 / A21

Building on the success of the teacher summer schools STEM Learning ran last year, and with the support of our ENTHUSE partners, we are able to offer a suite of three-day summer schools for trainee teachers with Northern Ireland ITT providers at the National STEM Learning Centre in York. The summer schools have a focus on subject knowledge.

Develop your subject knowledge of the core concepts necessary to teach Northern Ireland’s primary science curriculum and explore how children’s ideas and skills are progressed throughout. Discover why science is essential for gaining an understanding of the world and how we can set strong foundations for this in primary schools.

This primary science course is packed full of practical ideas to teach science within your school. You will explore a range of purposeful and engaging activities to teach science and discover how to tackle children's misconceptions. You will learn how to develop a progressive curriculum which builds on children’s prior experiences and learning.   

This course will not only give you a host of ideas to inspire your pupils, it will also give you the opportunity to ask our facilitators any questions you may have about teaching science.
