Partnering with STEM Ambassadors to develop children’s working scientifically skills - funded professional development project for KS2 teachers
This pilot project is intended to support and inspire learning in science through the contribution of researcher scientists (STEM Ambassadors), who act as role models and bring first-hand experience of working scientifically to classrooms. The project includes training for key stage 2 teachers: support for children’s learning by a STEM Ambassador: and access to resources. There is no charge for participation.
Who is the course leader?
Outcomes
Teachers will:
- explore ways that STEM Ambassador input can improve children’s practical scientific methods, processes and skills
- work alongside a STEM Ambassador in one or more class lessons, either virtually or in person
- consider the concept of science capital and the impact of having scientific role models in school
- have access to materials which facilitate collaboration with a STEM Ambassador, to develop curriculum linked learning opportunities
- be part of a group of teachers sharing support and ideas
