A workshop meeting for Manchester Collaborative to explore disciplinary knowledge in science and share an overview across the group.
Outcomes:
- To have identified the disciplinary knowledge in the secondary science curriculum.
- To have discussed possible progression for school teams to develop.
Please bring any ideas or work you have around disciplinary knowledge in science. There will be an overview about Ofsted and Ofqual national developments since the last meeting (15mins). Then we will have a brief overview of the research around disciplinary knowledge in science (15mins), followed by an opportunity to discuss the current practice/understanding in your teams in school (30mins). Finally, we will collaborate on a way forward to inform best practice across your teams. (30mins).

- work collaboratively to identify priorities in science teaching and learning and in science-specific professional development for your teams
- share and develop strategies to tackle these issues, drawing on expertise as needed from outside the network
