Autumn

Subject Leader Updates – 18th Nov 2021

How do we use meaningful assessments – digging deeper

During this session we will look at what we mean by assessment in science and how to make it meaningful and accurate. We will look at ways to support the long term recall of learning in science and how we link this to our assessment of children, particularly at the end of each Key Stage.

By the end of this session you will:

  • recap and refresh yourself with assessment standards at the end of key stages.
  • share assessment strategies that have been used successfully in school.
  • be able to make confident assessments; particularly in working scientifically.

Spring

Working scientifically – covering the tricky areas

During this meeting we will explore working scientifically across the whole school science curriculum. We will explore each of the working scientifically areas as well as identifying and sharing 'tricky areas' and how working scientifically works best in each area of science learning.

By the end of this session you will:

  • recap and refresh yourself with the working scientifically part of the science curriculum.
  • have opportunity to share ideas and thoughts on experiences in the classroom.
  • have a bank of ideas for each area of working scientifically within each unit of science learning.

  • identify next steps for your own school's curriculum.
  • build a clear picture of how to progress in Working Scientifically across the curriculum.

£75 each or if you attend all three we have teacher release funding available which will mean that your school will be invoiced for £225 and then on completion receive back £150 which would make all 3 sessions Only £75  please contact slp-admin@sghs.org.uk if you would like to attend all three.
