Summary
Provisional plan for STEM workshops for 2022-2023 at Brooke Weston Teaching School
These will be aimed at any teacher who wants to improve the teaching of this topic at KS3 and then develop the topic onto KS4. All workshops to be led by Peter Tiktin.
All workshops aim to;
- expose and correct any misconceptions,
- develop mathematical approaches when appropriate,
- make physics fun and inspiring,
- promote health and safety in teaching practices.
The workshops will start for one hour in the Teaching School Room and then transfer to the physics lab, Garret Anderson. Coffee and biscuits to be offered.
- Energy
- Stores and pathways
- Practical activities to show energy transfers
- Conservation of energy
- Calculation of energy in kinetic, gravitational potential, elastic and thermal stores (including Specific Heat Capacity required practical)
- Work, power, and efficiency
Delegates from Derby, Leicester, Nottingham and Northampton can claim a £50 release payment upon completion by emailing Finance@STEM.org.uk before the course start date
