Summary
Being a member of the Science Learning Partnership secondary subject leader network will ensure that you are up to date with the latest research and developments in science education, and funding opportunities from STEM Learning and partners. This network is open to all secondary science subject leads in Greater Manchester and will provide the opportunity to collaborate and share best practice with other secondary science leads across the region.
This network membership gives access to three Science Lead meetings a year and a secondary subject leads conference annually looking at key innovations in the Science education sector. This high quality CPD from STEM Learning will improve and expand your opportunity to network with professional colleagues and access the latest national guidance and research around effective science leadership.
Network sessions for the 2021 – 2022 academic year:
12th October 2021, 3:30-5pm – National updates, exam analysis and priorities for a new school year.This session outlines any national data analysis, updates from Ofsted/Ofqual and other professional bodies and will allow new and experienced subject leaders to reflect on their strategic plans for the new school year and share priorities and strategies ready to meet the needs of pupils, leadership teams and Ofsted.
9th February 2022, 3:30-5pm – CPD update.This session will give you an opportunity to discuss key CPD focus from research evidence and identify actions for improvement plans that will impact on teaching and learning. It will provide resources to effectively lead a CPD session back in school around the focus discussed at the meeting, identified by the needs of the group.
22nd June 2022, 3:30-5pm – Reflecting on progress against your Faculty Development Plan/SEF and priority setting for the year ahead.This session will facilitate reflection against your improvement priorities and enable you to identify priorities for the 2022 – 2023 year.

- work collaboratively to identify priorities in science teaching and learning and in science-specific professional development for your teams
- share and develop strategies to tackle these issues, drawing on expertise as needed from outside the network
