Summary
This CPD session is designed to provide hands on experience in a lab for newly trained teachers and those in their first few years of teaching secondary science. Recent restrictions have meant that many teachers have not had the opportunity to develop their skills in managing whole class practical work. This session aims to provide opportunities to build confidence in this area before the start of the new term.
Session aims:
Review Health and Safety requirements and risk assessments
Consider how to plan effective practical work as a learning activity
Gain hands on experience of some key practical activities
Consider how to manage a whole class practical safely, from beginning to end
Suitable for: ITTs, NQTs, RQTs, Early Career Teachers, non-specialist teachers of secondary science

You will be able to:
- develop strategies to maximise the impact of face to face practical science lessons
- identify good practice for planning and running practicals
