Summary

With an increased focus from OfSted on curriculum design, primary schools are taking time out to rethink their approach to primary science. What does good science look like? How is it best taught and assessed?
This course will help you to focus on the important aspects of primary science and how to get the most from your school curriculum. You will look at how to ensure progression in both subject knowledge and working scientifically skills across the school and also how to engage your children in developing their science capital.
You will have time to explore, experiment with and share new ideas as well as action plan the best way forward for you and your school.

How will you learn?

This course will be delivered face to face with some remote delivered sessions. There will be participant tasks to be completed between sessions.

4 hours of remote CPD and two days face to face.

Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • action plan for sustainable and effective change
  • identify excellent practice in primary science and embed this into the whole school curriculum
  • develop a science curriculum that meets the needs of all pupils in school
  • support staff and help them become more confident about change
  • identify enrichment activities that support engaging primary science
