We all want our students to enjoy and engage with our lessons, but more importantly is how to get students to see science as relevant to them.  This session explores what science capital is, how to incorporate it through the curriculum and the potential benefits of doing this.  We will also signpost how this can support the Gatsby Benchmarks and suggest ways in which STEM Ambassadors can add value to your curriculum.

You will

  • Understand what science capital is and why it is important.
  • Consider the implications for your school/curriculum.
  • Recognise ways to broaden support for the Gatsby Benchmarks and to counter unconscious bias.
  • Understand how STEM Ambassadors can support your school and how to request support.
