Summary
FOR INVITED TEACHERS IN WALES ONLY:
A half day virtual course (delivered in 2 x 1.5 hour sessions over 2 days) aimed at providing teachers with an overview of how to integrate the semi conductor industry in to the STEM curriculum and to give them the confidence to deliver the SPTS project for optimum educational benefit.
Who is the course leader?
Outcomes
Teachers will have an overview of the 5 lessons and be prepared to run the project.
The 5 lessons will be as follows
- SPTS will provide each pupils with a foldscope and a lesson will be needed to take the pupils through the step by step building of the foldscope
- an overview of the semi conductor industry
- microscopes – a then and now lesson
- pupils become investigators – looking for defects – a real work experience as this is an essential skill in the workplace
- a virtual or face to face – if allowed in the summer term – session with young people working at SPTS giving an insight in to working within the sector and the career opportunities
