Summary

This session will look at the strategies that science teachers can use to overcome the learning barriers. Time will be spent looking at the importance of language in the teaching of science and there will be a focus on the words that students are expected to know in science. The presentation will also look at a range of different methods to support students’ learning including scaffolding resources, revision mats.

Outcomes

 

  • You will gain a knowledge of what the new framework and the "deep dives" will look like in your own school setting
  • Develop an awareness of effective strategies to support the new framework with colleagues in outreach work
  • Opportunity to network with colleagues in a similar role across both primary and secondary phases
  • We will also have the opportunity to discuss the challenges of being a science SLE trying to support collegues during the pandemic
