Summary

This three day course will combine online and face -to-face learning. Teachers will experience ideas for developing their science and technology subject knowledge within the World Around Us curriculum area, and will build confidence in supporting pupils to develop their learning through active exploration. The final day of the course will be practical, hands-on and lots of fun, and will address the statutory requirements across the curriculum.

Outcomes

Participants will:

  • explore the development of planners, demonstrating how to link progression skills to include numeracy and literacy be introduced to a line of progression in the Design Technology process and follow a framework that allows for the stages of development through which children naturally pass when involved in design and make activities
  • experience a range of activities designed to engage and excite pupils in science and wider STEM activities linked to the WAU strand of Movement and Energy 
  • acquire a range of skills through hands on experience, designing and testing vehicles and other modes of transport, and consider how these can be used in the classroom
