Chemistry for Non-Specialists RD356 / B02
Summary
This course is aimed at non-specialists that find themselves teaching chemistry, particularly to GCSE level. During the course, subject knowledge in the seven key topic areas will be covered along with common misconceptions. Strategies will be developed to help with effective teaching of the tricky bits of the curriculum and participants will be signposted to resources that will help to develop their teaching of chemistry.
Note : This course is designed to develop subject knowledge of the chemistry curriculum and there will be limited engagement with practical chemistry.
Outcomes
You will be able to:
- improve your subject knowledge of chemistry topics that relate to the curriculum
- develop strategies to teach the tricky parts of the curriculum
- use models and understand common misconceptions to ensure teaching of the subject is effective
- utilise resources to help with development of subject knowledge
