Secondary support for new staff in September / NQTs RX021 / HB01
Summary
Develop an understanding of the key aspects of teaching science for NQTs, early career teachers or anyone returning to the classroom. It covers managing behaviour including for practical work; lesson objectives and outcomes; planning a sequence of learning; questioning and assessment - including formative assessment and top tips for starting your first job (or a new job or new academic year). Each episode will cover the key points, provide activity and a chance for reflection as well as signposting sources of resources/further study.
Outcomes
- Structure learning so that students are clear about learning objectives and you are able to assess whether these have been met.
- recognise how behaviour is different in a science classroom and develop strategies to address this.
- plan a sequence of learning; differentiate between lesson level and longer episodes. Understand how to assess the learning.
- manage your workload effectively by planning ahead and utilising some of the top tips suggested.
