Further Education Science Network: Adapting Teaching and Learning in 2020/21 RD529 / A02
Summary
Lessons from a national picture: practical work, assessment and maintaining learner engagement
As we approach the end of the autumn term, learner engagement and motivation will be key priorities. In this network meeting, we will explore the findings from Ofsted’s COVID-19 briefing series on Further Education and Skills and in particular the common challenges that influence learner engagement and motivation. We will be joined by Catherine Witter, the Senior Advice Manager of Practical Sciences from AQA who will discuss her insight into how colleges are managing practical work and assessment in the current climate. We will also be discussing the opportunities to keep learners engaged and motivated through enrichment.
Outcomes
You will be able to:
- work collaboratively to identify priorities in science teaching and learning
- share and develop strategies to tackle issues, drawing on expertise as needed from outside the network
