Summary

Studies show that outdoor learning has many benefits - reducing stress, improving moods, boosting concentration and increasing a child’s engagement at school. Therefore, outdoor learning has a part to play in our everyday teaching, never more so than now.

How do we make sure this is safe in the current climate? How do we make the activities meaningful and link purposefully to the National Curriculum?

Throughout the course we will answer these questions and give you a bank of ideas across the 3 strands of science, Biology, Chemistry and Physics to use with your pupils.

Outcomes

You will:

  • Use outdoor activities as a context to develop enquiry skills and consolidate scientific knowledge.
  • Plan actions needed to teach science outside in a safe way in light of Covid-19 restrictions.
