Teaching GCSE chemistry NY306 / A20
Summary
Teaching Key Stage 4 chemistry as a non-specialist can be daunting and even more so if you don’t have a science background. You will gain the subject specific knowledge and resources required to teach chemistry effectively. This course we will help you get the best out of your students, by working on their misconceptions, engaging with core practicals and supporting your students with the final written exam, by developing sound practice in GCSE chemistry.
This course will be delivered remotely over two days at the below times and dates.
Who is it for?
Open to both teachers from other science disciplines, and those coming from a non-science background who may be teaching Key Stage 4 chemistry for the first time.
What topics are covered?
This two day course covers:

⚪ better ways of delivering understanding of practical techniques
⚪ identification and treatment of common misconceptions
⚪ suitable resources to enhance your teaching
⚪ pragmatic health and safety for practical chemistry
How long is the course?
This course will be delivered remotely over two days on the days and times detailed below. To participate in full you will need to ensure you have dedicated time away from the classroom, as you would if this were a face to face course. We will take regular breaks and structure the content so that it is interactive and impactful. You must attend all sessions in order to receive the bursary, sessions will not be recorded.
