Best Evidence Science Teaching (BEST) is a collection of free research evidence-informed resources for effective teaching of difficult ideas, embedded formative assessment and adaptive lesson planning
We are pleased to be hosting this Teachmeet and welcome James de Winter, Associate Lecturer in Science Education, University of Cambridge who will lead this session on behalf of the SLP. James is well known for his engaging and insightful training sessions for trainees and teachers across Cambridgeshire.
During the session we will explore the thinking behind these resources and some messages from science education research about some of the biggest challenges that science teachers face and what the solutions may look like.

- Explore how BEST resources can be used to encourage metacognition and build understanding
- Consider how the resources can be used to improve teachers’ understanding of progression within challenging concepts and topics
