Summary

STEM Learning is the UK’s leading provider of education and careers support to schools and colleges in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Through a range of programmes we support teachers, technicians and schools to help deliver our vision of a world-leading STEM education for all young people across the UK. A key part of this work is supporting initial teacher training providers to enable trainee teachers to be able to raise the achievement and engagement of young people in STEM subject and careers once they enter the classroom.

We are organising two forums, one for secondary and one for primary, to discuss the current challenges facing ITT providers in preparing trainees for the classroom and how STEM Learning’s support can help.

Outcomes

Specifically these forums will:

  • Discuss the specific challenges ITT providers are likely to face in preparing trainees to teach STEM and how STEM Learning’s support can help mitigate these.
  • Outline the support STEM Learning can provide ITT providers and their trainees and how this aligns to the ITE Core Framework and Teacher Standards.
