Summary

This course will explain the basic concept of conditional transgenesis.  We will review sources of information on available reagents. We will discuss the advantages and challenges of using such systems. We will examine how to plan for restricting the expression of a transgene to the time and tissue required for your research. This course also includes analysis of cre expression and practical breeding workshops.

Outcomes

The outcomes of this course are:

  • understanding the basic principle of conditional mutagenesis
  • understanding the advantages and challenges of cre-induced mutagenesis
  • gaining practical experience of setting up breeding programmes for conditional mutagenesis, including the choice of control cohorts
