Fieldwork first aid course (outdoors) HC354 / C04
Summary
The session will help you apply first aid principles to real life situations in the outdoors and give you an opportunity to raise questions about your own outdoor activities. The course will be delivered by outdoor professionals who are members of Mountain rescue and have developed experience in a variety of environments. This session is recommended for Fieldwork Leaders/Academic Tutors and/or anybody leading an expedition where immediate first aid assistance may not be available. Your fieldwork risk assessment should help you identify whether you need to attend the course.
Participants are strongly advised to dress appropriately for outdoor activities i.e. waterproof trousers, jacket, suitable boots etc. The minibus will leave the University of Leeds at 07:00 and usually returns from the Dales at 19:00 at the latest. Participants do have the option to make their own way to the course. Selside centre is situated three miles north of Horton-in-Ribblesdale in the Yorkshire Dales on the B6479 to Ribblehead, grid reference SD 782758
It is essential that you have a good understanding of first aid and have ideally attended a first aid course in the past three years. If you need any advice on this, please contact Rudolphe Solentini on 01133 433697.
Attendance certificates available on request only, please state if you require an attendance certificate at the time of booking.
