Summary
The computing curriculum provides the opportunity to teach pupils key problem-solving skills, as well as supporting literacy, numeracy and life skills through a variety of unplugged and computer-based activities.
This course will provide you with the confidence and practical ideas to adapt the curriculum for the specific needs of your learners.
Please note that it is aimed at those teaching students working at upper P Scales and key stage 1 level, in special schools or primary settings.
Outcomes
You will be able to:
- understand the relevance of computing for SEND learners
- have hands-on experience of a number of unplugged activities to teach problem-solving and computational thinking in an accessible way
- understand how to introduce and extend programming with Bee-Bots, Scratch Jnr and physical computing devices
- use a number of multimedia apps to support literacy
- understand how to structure, resource and assess the computing curriculum in your school
