Summary

This course offers the opportunity to learn about the cutting edge science and technology developments being used in the exploration of space in general and Mars in particular by the ExoMars programme at Airbus Defence and Space.

You will have the opportunity to visit the Mars Rover Test Bed, tour the Airbus Factory where satellites and space vehicles are currently being manufactured, enjoy hands-on experience of the Airbus Foundation Discovery Space interactive exhibits and talk to scientists involved in space exploration and research. You will bring away with you a selection of ideas to facilitate teaching in all STEM areas and ideas for practical activities, all closely linked to curricula at KS3, KS4 and KS5 boosting student engagement and motivation thus raising progression into STEM careers.

Outcomes

You will be able to:

  • develop and update their knowledge by engaging with scientists involved in cutting edge research
  • use authentic contexts for the effective delivery of science content, and to deepen understanding of how science works, including controversies and ethical issues
  • engage with active and inspiring teaching approaches and learning activities
