Volunteers for STEM Fair 2020

I would like to promote STEM subjects via a fair in our local school in thatcham which will then help raise funds for the school to then expand the STEM interest to a club and therefore increase the awareness.

The idea for the fair is to have some classes dedicated to a certain STEM related topic and arrange for some short hands on activities for age group Foundation to Year 6.

We are also planning to possibly have 30 minutes shows/ demonstrations throughout the day. I

As mentioned in the ad (attached) the Fair is for the 7th March 2020 (start of British science week) timings aren't confirmed yet.

Anyone willing to help or point me in the direction of companies within teh area that might be interested that would be great

Hi Anisa

Have you approached STFC @ Rutherford Appleton Laboratories?

My son works there and is an ambassador for the Arkwright scholarship scheme, which is aimed at sixth form students, but I know that they do other outreach to.

Hi Anisa

Don't forget you can put yor event on the STEM Ambassador site, you have plenty of time to advertise it and request Ambassadors to support it. We have a new page which explains how to log an event and is really easy to use, here is the link: https://www.stem.org.uk/stem-ambassadors/find-a-stem-ambassador good luck!

Hi Jo,

Thank you very much I'm still working out how to use the website and log activities and events . That is very useful information. i have just logged it in hopefully its come through as it came up with a forbidden 403 after the activity was added.

Thank you

Hi Ani

I just took a look and I couldn't find it, could you try again to load it, check in your user profile to see if it is listed. Also, check the dates you are listing - I've noticed a number of people when loading events have mistyped the year - 2109 rather 2019!

Once you've reloaded, send me some details so I cna look it up for you to make sure it is listing correctly - thanks.

Hi Jo,

Thanks for checking. On my dashboard on the menu I don't have advertise an activity as an option is this possibly because I'm not a Teacher/ group leader? The only option I have is add an activity which I believe is when you have completed an activity. I believe that is possibly where I posted it thinking it is in the future so it might be the place.

Any help appreciated.

thanks

Ani

Hi Ani

I can't find you as a registered 'user', I can add the activity for you, but I need all of the details ) and I would need a school and a user to connect it to - you may need to ask a teacher etc to be the link person, or amend your user profile to link to a school etc.

Could you contact me on STEMClubs@stem.org.uk  so I can sort this out for you? I have attached a document which shows all of the information I will need, simply download, add the relevant details and email it to me.
