What key issues are you exeriencing ?

Hello everybody, I hope you are enjoying engageing with and following this course as much as me.  I would really like to understand from you all what it is that led you to do this Managing Behaviour Course ?  What kinds of issues are you experiencing that you hoped the course would address ?

Hi D Thorpe,

I haven't really got any specific issues this year (thank goodness), but wanted to share ideas & best practice & feel inspired by others. The main time I have had problems is with girls in my groups (I lecture 90-95% male groups), who cause low level disruption (texting, distracting the boys, interrupting) & I know this is a weak spot I have. I am already feeling more able to handle some of these issues in class, and I have taken a student to one side this week to give her positive praise for her class involvement. She burst into tears!

Hi sarah - 90-95% male group !! what subject are you teaching ?  Glad to hear  that you feel more able hande some of these issues in class - I hope that this course has helped you with that ?  I would not let the "tears" incident stop you from continuing to employ good practice.  GOOD LUCK

Horticulture & Arboriculture. Interestingly, as soon as the courses are aimed at adult leaners, there is an almost total switch, and I have 95% females in my adult horticulture course this year! The student who cried last week was stellar in class today, btw. Obviously working! Thanks!

Glad its working out Sarah - it makes all the work that goes into creating the course worthwhile. Dont forget to apply for the completion certificate for the course.  With best wishes  David
