psychology Technicians

JUst wonder how many HEATED members are working in psychology or related depts?

I seem to find myself in the minority when atteding regional events even though I know that there are a lot of tech staff in psychology dept et al at HEIs

We support the Sport Science labs so that covers all the main sub-disciplines; Physiology, Biomechanics. Motor Control and Psychology. The psychology stuff is currently a smaller part of what we do but does require some of the more involved stuff, e.g. software development.

Hi Peter

You know about us at Southampton following this year's ATSiP conference but as you say, typically Psychology technical and experimental staff tend to be in a minority at HEaTED events.

We have a total of 5.00 FTE posts here at Southampton, two of whom provide 'front line support' (in addition to IT support from central services), two develop software solutions (mainly for PGR and staff research) and I lead the team with the responsibility to ensure it continues to meet the research and teaching needs of Psychology at Southampton. The 'front-line support' covers everything from advising on/loaning appropropriate equipment through to construction of lab equipment and of course everything in between.
