I was talking to an expert H@S friend recently about what is current following an approach about Health and Safety issues and this is what he had to say.
'I would suggest however, that you might want to think about putting The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 onto your agenda as there does seem to be a great deal of confusion over what is required in order to comply with the regulation. You might also want to extend this to cover Fire Risk Assessment. This is required as part of the Fire Regulations, but once again, there does seem to be a great deal of confusion, and from my own experience, the quality of Fire Risk Assessments do vary tremendously.'
It (H@S) is a highly contentious and sensitive subject in my view and rising up the agenda and not a million miles away from the student experience and the guarantees that they expect from trained and qualified staff.
