HEaTED North West Regional Network Event - 7 December 2015

Audience: Technical Staff, Technical Managers, Technical Team Leaders and Staff Development Professionals from HE and FE Institutions across the Region.

 

Brief:  The North West HEaTED regional network provides a forum for discussion and communication between technical managers, technical staff, and staff development/HR colleagues from across the region. The network promotes training events, the sharing of knowledge, skills and best practice amongst technical staff and increased awareness of the opportunities and facilities provided by HEaTED and member institutions. At this time of significant change in the HE/FE environment maintaining a focus on high quality provision of services and taking staff forward through these changes becomes increasingly important. 

 

Outcomes/objectives: A chance for HE Technical Staff to get together and learn about/discuss teaching, Professional Development, and the changing HE sector.

 

Theme: Teaching and Learning and Changes and Challenges in the HE sector

 

Agenda:

 

10:00 - 10:10 Welcome and introductions - Sandra Taylor, HEaTED North West Regional Network Coordinator

 

10:10 - 10:30 HEaTED update presentation - Sue Churm, HEaTED Membership and Networks Manager

 

10:30 - 11:00 Discussion session on the merits of CPD and/or Professional Registration - Joan Ward, Institute of Science and Technology (IST)

 

11:00 - 12:00 First split group session - either Gallery Tour (Nicola Walker) OR Teaching and Learning Skills for Technicians (Sue Churm, HEaTED)

 

12:00 - 13:00 Second split group session - either Gallery Tour (Nicola Walker) OR Teaching and Learning Skills for Technicians (Sue Churm, HEaTED)

 

13:00 - 13:30 Lunch and networking

 

13:30 - 14:30 Responding to change in the HE Sector workshop - Sandra Booth, University of Manchester

 

14:30 - 14:45 Feedback and discussion – Future topics/themes

 

14:45 - 14:55 Planning date/venue/theme for next meeting

 

14:55 - 15:00 Evaluation form completion

Very sorry, but due to current workload, I'm not going to make the event on Monday. Hopefully there will something else after Easter when things have quietened down a bit.

Thanks for letting us know. A shame that you can't make this one, but there will be another in the Spring (location still to be decided - open to suggestions on this!).

Just to say thanks to everyone who has registered to come along next Monday. I hope it will be an enjoyable day. However, I am very open to suggestions for future topics and future venues, especially offers to host future events.
