HEaTED East Midlands Regional Network Event

Loughborough University, Wednesday 29th Jan 2014.

Venue: Loughborough University B114 Brockington building, Social Science Dept. on campus in Central Park.  A campus map can be downloaded here.

Audience: Technicians, Technical Managers, Technical Team Leaders and Staff Development Professionals from all disciplines across the East Midlands Region.

Brief: The East Midlands HEaTED Regional Network provides a forum for discussion and communication between Technical Managers, Technical staff, and Staff Development/HR colleagues from across the Region. The Network promotes training events, the sharing of knowledge, skills and best practice amongst Technical staff and increased awareness of the opportunities and facilities provided by HEaTED and member institutions. At this time of significant change in the HE environment maintaining a focus on high quality provision of services and taking staff forward through these changes becomes increasingly important. 

Objective: To establish a core community of well-networked Technical staff from all levels to lead, manage and deliver services and support to academia for the future.

12:30pm           Welcome and introduction to Professor Robert Allison

‘A Vice-Chancellor’s View’

1:00pm             Introductory Activity Steve Taylor, HEaTED East Midlands Regional Network Coordinator & University of Derby

1:30pm             HEaTED Update and new CATTS Resource

Dr Katherine Forsey, HEaTED Operations Manager

2:00pm             Welcome and Showcase of Loughborough University Social Psychology labs/HEBS-2

Will include a short talk on the project (HEBS-2) by Graham Orsborn

2:30pm             Tea/Coffee/Biscuits

2:45pm             Discussion Topics as suggested by attendees at the previous meeting: 

Update on Steve Carroll’s presentation “What about the arts”, including survey results (Katherine Forsey). How is it for arts technicians in the East Midlands? (Steve Taylor)

3:45pm             Walk to sports exercise, see Prof Timmons (Research lab/talk) Q&A walk back           

4:45pm             Discussion and feedback

On previous sessions Wrap up; action points; discussion points for next meeting

Evaluation completion

5:00pm             Departure
