The Institute of Mathematics and its Applications
The Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (IMA) have launched an e-16+ newsletter aimed at students studying for AS level, A level or Highers. The newsletter shows the usefulness, interest, beauty and applications of mathematics in many areas. It will also keep students up to date with mathematical people and activities relevant to the 16 to 19 age group. The newsletter can be found here.
The IMA already provide the www.mathscareers.org.uk website that shows the utility of mathematics for all students aged over 11.
Resources from the IMA can be found on the National STEM Centre eLibrary. The Mathematics Matters case studies have been written to address the issue that contemporary mathematics research affects the daily lives of a very large number of people and can be used by teachers to guide students in their future choices and careers using mathematics.
