Free maths opportunity for Year 11 / Sixth Form students - Wednesday 12th September

This year, The OR Society are celebrating the Diamond Anniversary of the ORS Conference. As a result, there will be various activities and initiatives running in Lancaster (where this year’s conference will be held) in September to mark this occasion.

Therefore, we are inviting students based in and around Lancashire (and nearby) to the upcoming conference which will benefit those considering a career in Maths, Operational Research or Analytics. We are inviting year 11 students and AS / A Level students from local schools who enjoy maths to explore the different job opportunities within it.

Since 1948, The OR Society has been a learned organisation, ran by members to advance the knowledge, education and interest in Operational Research (OR). This year will mark the Diamond Anniversary of The OR Society Conference and therefore we have various celebrations and activities taking place. As a result; we are offering local students the chance to come along FREE OF CHARGE and hear first-hand experiences of life working in OR.

Taking place on Wednesday 12th September 2018 at Lancaster University from 12pm until 4.30pm, the afternoon will include refreshments, talks about what OR is; advice on how to get into OR and lots of interesting case studies. The afternoon’s highlight will include the Presidents Medal; which is an opportunity to hear the best case studies and best real life examples of where OR is used around the world to make a difference. You can find full information about the President’s medal as well as the conference here:
