Science week

We celebrated our Science week by using our topics to research and find out about different scientists. This was a great opportunity to 'close the gaps' in progression and working scientifically. Each class focussed on a scientist- of which are not the steriotypical. We kick started the week with by turning the hall into a science lab-the children were really excited to see what was in there and each class was timetabled to go in and partake in STEM activities ranging from marbles runs, light and sound stations, to a wormery. Following the week of activities within class rooms we then produced our work on a display board, one for each class and displayed this in the school corridor. As you can see there is a range and variety of research, investigations and work on the five lines of enquiry. We also set up a 'gadget shop' for the week where children could purchase items that would make them question and seek answers to how and why things worked (strecthy men, glow in the dark stars, slime plus many more). The whole week was a success, we will definately be doing a similar thing next year!
