Fancy spending time this October working with bp?

Our STEM Insight programme has some last minute places available for teachers looking for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, with bp, one of the UK’s largest science and engineering employers.

A placement with bp will open your eyes to the world of STEM in the workplace and provide you with in-depth knowledge of STEM careers to take back to your students. Learn all about the inner workings of this world-class organisation including everything from geology to lubricant design.

Supported by a package of face-to-face and online CPD, we will help you get the most out of your time with bp and show you all the effective ideas you can implement back in school to improve STEM careers knowledge and learning. With over 83,000 employees across 80 countries around the world, bp is one of the largest global developers of energy which is essential to our way of life. Striving to be a world-class operator, good employer and a responsible corporate citizen, this could be the placement to open you up to the world of STEM in industry.

One of their global projects include helping Abu Dhabi to support sustainable water and energy management. Creating what they have called The Foreseer tool, bp have managed to create a visualisation of natural resource lifecycles and their interconnectivity in the future demand scenarios. This tool will provide Abu Dhabi’s policy-makers with a deep understanding of the relationships between land, water and energy, thus helping them plan for sustainable development.

A placement with bp will open your eyes to the world of STEM in the workplace and provide you with in-depth knowledge of STEM careers to take back to your students.

bp are also currently the largest operator in renewable energy, focusing on biofuels and onshore wind. In their Tropical mill in Brazil, they have managed to produce ethanol biofuels from sugar cane and electricity from sugar cane waste.

Projects like this need to consider issues such as food security and biodiversity, greenhouse gas emissions, water resources, and impact on the community. This requires expert knowledge from a range of STEM professionals which is why bp hire so many experts in different STEM fields.
